This is a gorgeously unique 1930s vintage gown featuring a velvet, floral lace overlay atop a satin slip. This bodice features 3/4 long sleeves with a gathering detail at the forearm and a subtle puff shoulder. The crew neckline has petite velvet piping and a decorative bow, while the bust includes pleating that accents the wearer's form. There is petite piping trim along the drop waist which gives way to a flowing a-line skirt and train. The lace overlay closes in the back via a row of velvet loops and velvet covered buttons. The lace is a geometric, floral-esque pattern depicting swirling leaves and flowers. The lace is also unique in that is is accented by hand-embroidered velvet across the entire gown. Below the lace overlay is a satin slip in a warm champagne color. The slip includes spaghetti straps and a scoop neckline. There is a petite, baby blue bow ribbon that has been safety pinned at the front of the bodice on the inside, most likely placed for a sentimental “something blue” by the original bride. The bottom portion of the slip also has godets, geometric panels which allows it to flare at the bottom. This piece is very special and is in wonderful condition with only very minimal signs of wear to note. There are some petite tears in the hem of the lace that will be repaired prior to shipping, and there is one small section of discoloration on the back right elbow and light underarm discoloration which is not visible in photos. The slip has some light marks of discoloration throughout, but they are not at all visible through the lace. The original spaghetti straps have been replaced. There is a linear mark near the hem that suggests to us the slip was originally hemmed to be shorter, which has since been let down and the godet panels added. This is not a sign of wear, just an indication of the rich history of this garment.
